Title
Mattamuskeet Refuge OBX
Artist
David Dorrell
Medium
Drawing - Pencil On Paper
Description
Mattamuskeet Refuge is an odd place. The building in the drawing is part of a venture to create a sort of canal waterway to drain water from the lake exposing nutrient rich farmlands and houses a pumping system. The Mattamuskeet Lake is not fed by any springs, just rainwater runoff. It is actually below see level. So the pumps were used to raise the water to a canal where it would drain to the Pamlico Sound.
